Kokrajhar : Protest mars Salguri area in Kokrajhar today over the killing of two persons by police in an alleged fake encounter at Ultapani-Lungsung forest under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar district yesterday.
Around 500 people today carried out protest rally taking the dead body of Jwngsar Mushahay at Salguri area demanding justice and high level inquiry into the incidents.
Two persons suspected to be cadres of newly formed United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB) were killed in an encounter with police at Lungsung forest area in Kokrajhar district yesterday
Kokrajhar Additional Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh Panesar had said that the two cadres of the United Liberation for Bodoland were killed in an encounter inside Ultapani-Lungsung forest area.
The family members and the local villagers however alleged that the killing is nothing but a fake encounter by the police force. Family members and neighbours of Jwngsar Mushahary said he was not associated with any militant groups and has been killed in a fake encounter by the police.
The ULB today denied that the two killed persons are its members. The outfit through a video sent to a section of media said the two decease persons are not it’s members.
The Bodoland Janajati Suraksa Manch(BJSM) have expressess it’s concern over the killing of innocent civilian in the name of counter insurgency and demanded an high level inquiry into the killings. Former Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary and president of Bodoland Students Union Manjil Basumatary too condemned the killing and demanded high level inquiry into the incidents.
