Qatar has decided to withdraw its membership from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, 
from January next year.
Addressing a press conference in Doha, the Gulf state’s new energy minister, Saad al-Kaabi made the announcement today.
AFP news agency quotes Mr Saad as saying that OPEC was informed about the decision ahead of the announcement.
