In Rajasthan, Governor Kalyan Singh has invited senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot to be sworn-in as the Chief Minister. Mr Sachin Pilot will be Deputy Chief Minister.
The oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place on next Monday. A Congress delegation last night had called on the Governor about the government formation. The delegation handed over a letter containing names of MLAs supporting Mr Gehlot.
President Ramnath Kovind will visit Gujarat today. During a day-long stay, he will visit the Statue of Unity – the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kevadia Colony in Narmada district.
Mr Kovind will also visit various places like ‘Valley of Flowers’, ‘Wall of Unity’, ‘Museum and Exhibition Halls’ and others at the venue of Statue of Unity.
During the visit, the President will be accompanied by Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal among others.
The Statue of Unity venue will remain closed today till 12 noon for the public on security reasons. The Chief Minister yesterday held a review meeting in connection with the President’s visit.
