New Delhi : Regional-language digital content is emerging as one of the strongest engagement environments during India’s festive advertising season, as consumers increasingly turn to content in their preferred languages for discovery, information and entertainment.
Admerly reports that regional-language inventory is seeing 38% higher festive engagement than English-language content, highlighting the growing importance of language and local relevance in reaching India’s increasingly diverse digital audience.
The trend comes as brands enter one of the country’s most competitive advertising periods, with campaigns expanding beyond traditional metro audiences to reach consumers across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and a wider range of regional markets.
“The festive opportunity in India is no longer just about reaching the largest possible audience; it is about understanding where that audience is most engaged. Regional-language content is showing us that relevance and familiarity can significantly change the quality of attention brands receive,” said Akash Sharma, Chief Strategy Officer, Admerly.
For advertisers, the shift presents an opportunity to look beyond reach and focus on where and how audiences are engaging. Regional-language environments can offer brands access to consumers in moments of active discovery, whether they are researching products, looking for festive offers, consuming entertainment or following local and interest-based content.
For publishers, stronger engagement also has a direct commercial implication. Higher interaction with content creates more opportunities to serve advertising and can make regional-language inventory increasingly valuable as advertiser demand rises during the festive period.
The trend is particularly significant in a market such as India, where digital consumption is spread across multiple languages and geographies. While English-language content continues to have a strong presence online, the growing depth of regional digital ecosystems means advertisers are increasingly able to reach audiences in the languages they use in their everyday lives.
This could become increasingly important as the festive advertising cycle extends beyond the major shopping platforms. Consumers often move across search, content, reviews, news, entertainment and other digital experiences before making a purchase, creating multiple opportunities for brands to influence consideration.
