DKMS-BMST, a non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and other blood disorders, is organizing a live musical concert #MusicForLife with an aim to create awareness on the importance of registering as a potential blood stem cell donor.

Music For Life is an initiative by DKMS-BMST in collaboration with four talented musicians of India who through their music will bring hope and joy to patients fighting blood cancer and other blood disorders.

The concerts kickstarted on November 7th and will continue every Saturday throughout the month of November (14th, 21st and 28th Nov) at 5 PM on their Instagram channel https://www.instagram.com/dkms_bmst_in , where four renowned music artists namely Raghu Dixit, Stebin Ben, Harish Moyal and Manasi Scott will be performing and they will also be interacting with blood cancer patients and survivors.

Patrick Paul, CEO, DKMS-BMST says “They say music holds immense power. To heal, nurture, motivate and cheer people up. Our aim is to use the power of music to start an online movement to raise awareness about Blood Cancer and unite people in one cause: battling it! A four weeklong online concert packed with musical performances, interviews with talented musicians and music themed contests for you to have fun with, all while helping our cause.”

Speaking about the theme of the concert ‘Music for life’, Raghu Dixit, an Indian singer-composer, producer, and film score composer says, “When I was approached by DKMS-BMST about the live musical concert where I will be playing songs dedicated to blood cancer patients, I was overwhelmed. As someone rightly said ‘Music is the moonlight in the gloomy night of life’, same thought came to my mind thinking about all those blood cancer and blood disorder patients who are suffering and those who have fought this illness bravely. I hope my music would give hope to those who are waiting for a lifesaving matching donor. And strengthens the resolve of these brave warriors who have received a second chance at life.”

“With everyone being stuck indoors, we all have found more than enough ways to spend our time doing various things during the lockdown or quarantine period. But, amidst the Corona pandemic, we should not forget that there are still lakhs of patients in India who are suffering from blood disorders and they need our support. I feel proud to perform during #Musicforlife live concert organized by DKMS-BMST for such a noble cause, the pain these patients go through is unimaginable and if I can bring smile to them through my music, there’s nothing better than that during this festive season” says Stebin Ben, the new sensational singer, who is winning hearts with his latest releases which are ruling the charts currently.

Blood cancer accounts for 8% of all new cases of cancer diagnosed in India. Many patients suffering from blood cancer and other blood disorders need a blood stem cell transplant to survive. Every year over 70,000 new searches are initiated worldwide for an unrelated matching donor. Unfortunately, the majority of patients are never able to receive a transplant due to the unavailability of a matching blood stem cell donor. In India, only 0.03% of the total population is registered as a potential blood stem cell donor. Hence, through this collaboration, we urge people to join the fight against blood cancer in India by registering as potential blood stem cell donors, added Patrick.
