Review of various schemes of Chief Secretary Pawan Kumar Borthakur

GUWAHATI :Assam Chief Secretary Pawan Kumar Borthakur reviewed the work of several departments of Golaghat district in the meeting room of Golaghat circuit house today. He discussed in detail the progress of the schemes being implemented under various departments, the problems faced in the implementation of schemes and the measures that can be taken to find early solutions to these issues. The chief secretary directed each department to ensure successful implementation of the schemes by maintaining necessary coordination among themselves.

In this regard, he emphasized on creating massive awareness among the people. Issues such as increasing the enrolment rate of students in schools and ensuring nutrition are discussed in detail especially in tea garden areas.The chief secretary directed to make efforts to go door-to-door especially in tea garden areas and convince parents to send their children to school. He directed the related departments like education, labour welfare, social welfare department, health department etc. to come together and conduct field visits and create awareness as teams. He said education and health sectors are the key pillars of a society. If these two blocks cannot be developed one district and state are left behind in many ways. He also stressed on reducing child and maternal mortality rate.

The chief secretary also directed the assistant labour commissioner to conduct a massive surveillance drive to eliminate child labour. He reviewed the work of Agriculture Department, Public Health Technical Department, Social Welfare Department, Transport, Fisheries, Energy, Handloom and Textile Industries and various departments.Reviewing various issues of the Forest Department, he directed to take stock of elephant-human conflict, compensation to the affected people and take measures for afforestation in places other than national parks and protected forests.

He directed the heads of every department to engage the public to ensure successful implementation of the schemes. He called upon the departments to move ahead with concerted efforts to turn the complexities into opportunities. Today’s meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr P Uday Praveen, District Development Commissioner Arp Baglari, Zilla Parishad CEO Dhiraj Das, Bokakhat Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Neha Yadav, Dhansiri Sub Divisional Magistrate Dinsengpha Baruah and district head officers of each department.
