The Rotary Club of Haflong Hills celebrated 114th anniversary of Rotary Foundation along with rest of Rotary Clubs spread across the world on 23rd February by felicitating two professionals with the vocational excellence award in a solemn function on Saturday.
Shri Anup Biswas, senior journalist of Dima Hasao and Shri Neeraj Alam Choudhury ,vibrant promising policeman were bestowed the recognition in presence of Mr T.T Daolagupu, Principal Secretary (T) of NCHAC. Members of the club also handed over ten dustbins sponsored by Rtn Bankim Phonglo, Rtn Kaushik Kachari and Rtn Lonney Jidung and 300 biodegradable bags with slogans printed on it for awareness on keeping Haflong clean. In a short span of time Rotary movement has gained popularity in the town with two new members getting inducted in the club Mr M Hassan Barbhuiya and Mr Nitiraj Thaosen. Mr T.T Daolagupu enlightened the gathering on the clean Haflong initiative undertaking as a people’s participatory movement to bring behavioral change amongst the citizens of Haflong towards developing more civic responsibility so that Haflong become a well managed pristine clean town . The evening ended with vote of thanks by Rtn Rajesh Mahajan.
