To help the Government in its fight against the devastating COVID 19 pandemic, the Board of Directors of Saraswat Bank – India’s largest Co-operative Bank – has decided to donate an amount of Rupees One Crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Maharashtra.

The rapid outbreak of the coronavirus presents an alarming crisis that the world is grappling with. The health and economic impact of the pandemic in India has been substantial and broad-based, with the numbers rising every day. The State of Maharashtra has been severely affected by the pandemic, which has had an all-pervasive cascading effect on the health, economy and livelihood of its people even as overburdened healthcare workers and essential services providers try to cope.

Saraswat Bank is the largest financial institution run on co-operative principles and is rightly called ‘Maharashtra’s Own Bank’. It has never lost focus of its responsibility towards the community at large. The Bank has always followed the principle of giving back to society a part of what it has received. From donations to NGOs, to absorbing family members of policemen martyrs of the 26/11 terrorist attacks as employees, to contributing towards drought and flood relief, the Bank has always upheld needy and worthy causes. Last year, the Bank had contributed Rs. One Crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Maharashtra in view of the devastating floods in Maharashtra.
