Second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 launched

Bhopal: Union Home and Cooperative Minister Shri Amit Shah said that today with the launch of the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free gas connections are being provided to 5 lakh mothers in Madhya Pradesh. Under this scheme, poor women will now get freedom from smoke. He said that the development is picking up in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Central Government is continuously working for the welfare of the poor, backward, tribal and downtrodden sections of the country. Since the first term of the Central Government in year 2014, the schemes made for the welfare of the poor are being implemented. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah was addressing the launch programme of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 to distribute free gas connections at Veterinary College Ground, Jabalpur.

Union Minister Shri Shah said that till 2014, about 13 crore affluent families had gas connections. Poor women had to cook food on the chulha (stove) by collecting wood in the traditional way. The smoke from the wood caused problems with the lungs and eyes. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi understood this pain very well and started the Ujjwala scheme. So far, free gas connections have been provided to the homes of about 9 crore poor families. In the year 2019, in the second term of the government, the work of providing one crore free gas connections was done. In Madhya Pradesh, 74 lakh people were given gas connections. Today five lakh people are being provided its benefit.

Union Minister Shri Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, bank accounts were opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and the amount of government schemes was transferred directly in them. Electricity was provided to every house. By the year 2022, arrangements for pucca houses and toilets are being made for all the eligible beneficiaries. Under the Ayushman card scheme, free treatment of five lakh rupees is being given to the eligible families. In view of the Corona epidemic, arrangements have also been made to distribute free food grains. The government has not made promises alone, but by fulfilling them, the work has been done to bring its benefits to the lower level. The goal of Prime Minister Shri Modi is to make full inclusive development of 130 crore people of the country. Under this, Atma-nirbhar Bharat, Amrit Mahotsav of freedom, bringing a smile on the face of the poor, providing work to the unemployed, are the main priorities of the government. Shri Shah also congratulated the women who got benefitted in today’s program.

Ujjwala scheme is a campaign to rid the poor mothers from the smoke of the stove

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a campaign to help poor mothers get rid from the smoke of stove. In this campaign, 5 lakh LPG connections are being made available in Madhya Pradesh today. Out of the 17 lakh target that Madhya Pradesh got under the Ujjwala scheme, the remaining 12 lakh connections will be provided soon. The scope of the scheme has been increased in the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. He said that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi is leaving no stone unturned for the welfare of the poor. Also working day and night to improve the standard of living of the poor. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan spoke in detail about the schemes of the central government necessary for life related to roti (food), house, health. He informed that during the Covid crisis, free food grains for about 7 months are being provided to the poor by the Central and State Governments under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. Similarly, the Central Government has set a target to provide pucca houses to the poor by 2023 in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that 8 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas will be constructed in Madhya Pradesh this year. Now under the leadership of the Central Government, work is continuing on a war footing in the innovative Jal Jeevan Mission scheme for supplying water from door to door.

Free treatment will be available in identified private hospitals

Referring to Ayushman Bharat Niramayam, the welfare and popular scheme of the Central Government, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that every family is being given free treatment up to 5 lakh under this scheme. He said that 2.5 crore Ayushman cards have been made in Madhya Pradesh so far. The work of making Ayushman card is still going on continuously. Now the eligible Ayushman card holders will also be provided free treatment in identified private hospitals under the scheme.

Self-help groups will get credit linkage of 2500 crores this year

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that continuous efforts are also being made for women empowerment. This year, credit linkage of 2500 crores will be made available to self-help groups. It is the dream of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that the income of every working mother must be at least 10 thousand rupees per month.

Had a look at products exhibition

Guests including Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the exhibition of products put up by self-help groups. During this they also discussed with the members of the groups. Stalls for textile manufacturing, spices, incense sticks, sanitary napkins, papads were set up in the product exhibition.

Benefits of Ujjwala scheme distributed from the platform

Union Home and Cooperative Minister Shri Amit Shah, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with guests distributed gas connections to the beneficiaries at the launch of the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 from the stage. Renu Kotia, Shabana Begum, Sonu Ben, Jyoti Prajapati, Nisha Kushwaha were among the beneficiaries who benefitted from the platform.

The programme started with Kanya Pujan. The welcome address was given by Shri Rakesh Singh, Member of Parliament. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri virtually joined the program. The Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Rameshwar Teli gave detailed information regarding the Ujjwala scheme. A short film based on the success of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was screened. Food, Cooperative and Consumer Protection Minister Shri Bisahu Lal Singh expressed gratitude.

Sampatia Uike, public representatives, beneficiaries, self-help group sisters and a large number of citizens were present.
