In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a third terrorist was killed in the operation today by security forces in Kreeri village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Two CRPF jawans and a Jammu and Kashmir police personnel had attained martyrdom in the encounter yesterday.
As per Defence Spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia , two Army jawans, who were critically injured yesterday in the encounter at Kreeri area, also succumbed to their grievous injuries.
Security forces had chased the terrorists after yesterday’s attack and gunned down two of them including Sajad Haider–a top commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit in north Kashmir. Another terrorist was killed on the second day of the operation today taking the toll of the killed terrorists to three.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.
The operation began immediately after the LeT terrorists carried out the attack on a naka party of the forces yesterday which left two CRPF jawans and a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir policeman martyred.
The officials said the search operation was going on when the last reports came in.
