Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar police today burnt seized contraband substances including ganja, heroin and brown sugar in Kokrajhar.
The banned substances were set on fire at Chandamari open ground near Gaurang River in Kokrajhar district in the presence of Special DGP and BTR IGP incharge L R Bishnoi.
Destruction of seized drugs and psychotropic substances includes Ganja 1476.54 kg, heroin 1 kg and 227 grm, brown sugar 32.1 gm , tablet 33 packets, cough syrup 1 bottle.
Bishnoi said the Assam govt under chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs as it has adversely affected many families posing a serious threat to the future of the young generation.
He said the police have adopted various means to curb illegal activities including drugs and carrying out various activities like awareness programme, and operations against drug peddlers.
