Mumbai: The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed losses of more than one per cent in the afternoon trade. Both stock indices declined in sync with losses in the global share markets. The Sensex was trading below the 59,000 mark while the Nifty was trading near the 17,500 level. The Sensex plunged 755 points, or 1.27 per cent, to trade at 58,891. The Nifty also declined 231 points, or 1.3 per cent, to trade at 17,528 when the reports last came in. In the forex market, the rupee also weakened 12 paise to trade at 79 rupees and 90 pasie against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
