New Delhi : Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang has expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives and property caused by floods, landslides and other natural calamities triggered by incessant and heavy rainfall across various parts of neighbouring Nepal.
In a message, the Chief Minister conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, particularly those affected by the devastating floods along the Bhotekoshi River in the Tibet–Nepal border region.
He expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved families as well as for those who had been affected and displaced by the floods and had lost their homes, property and means of livelihood.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged and appreciated the continuous, tireless and courageous efforts being undertaken by the Government of Nepal, security agencies, rescue and relief personnel, and local communities towards the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the affected population.
He prayed for the swift rescue of all those affected by the disaster, their safe rehabilitation and the earliest possible restoration of normalcy in their lives.
Highlighting the close cultural and emotional ties between Sikkim and Nepal, Chief Minister Tamang said that Nepal was not merely a neighbouring country but a nation with which the people of Sikkim shared deep-rooted cultural and emotional bonds. He noted that whenever Nepal faced a calamity, its pain and suffering were equally felt by the people of Sikkim and the wider region.
The Chief Minister prayed for strength, courage and patience for all families affected by the natural disaster to overcome the difficult circumstances. He further conveyed solidarity with the affected people and wished for the speedy recovery of all those undergoing treatment.
