SingHealth and Glosel Host ‘Caring for Your Health’ in Chennai to Promote Family and Women’s Health Awareness

 Chennai: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare collaboration between Singapore and India, SingHealth, Singapore’s leading public healthcare institution, in partnership with Glosel, hosted the “Caring for Your Health” awareness event in Chennai. The initiative brought together eminent healthcare professionals and dignitaries from Singapore and Tamil Nadu to highlight the importance of preventive care, community awareness, and holistic well-being.

 The event was inaugurated by Mr. T. Mano Thangaraj, Honourable Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, and Mr. Edgar Pang Tze Chiang, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Chennai. The event drew participation from over 60 doctors representing leading hospitals across Chennai, spanning various specialties including paediatrics, gynaecology, family medicine, internal medicine, and preventive healthcare. Their presence made the discussions rich and multidimensional, encouraging meaningful exchanges on the challenges, opportunities, and innovations shaping the future of healthcare delivery.

In his address, Mr. T. Mano Thangaraj, Honourable Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, Government of Tamil Nadu said, “Tamil Nadu has always led the way in public health initiatives. Collaborations like these not only strengthen our healthcare ecosystem but also inspire people to take charge of their health through awareness and early intervention”.

 Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Edgar Pang Tze Chiang, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore added, “Singapore and India have long shared a strong relationship in healthcare and education. Events such as these foster greater professional exchange, research collaboration, and, most importantly, people-to-people engagement that benefits communities on both sides.”

Interactive sessions were led by visiting doctors from Singapore’s SingHealth cluster such as Dr. Shephali Tagore, Senior Consultant, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital; Dr. Ng Chung Wai, Mark, Senior Consultant, SingHealth Polyclinics; and Adjunct Assistant Professor Dr. Chonkar Sonali Prashant, Senior Staff Physician, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The talks focused on family and women’s health, preventive screening, maternal care, and the evolving role of family physicians in improving community health outcomes.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shephali Tagore said, “Empowering families with the right knowledge and access is the foundation of a healthier society. Awareness and empathy are as vital as medical care itself.”

Dr. Ng Chung Wai, Mark added, “Primary healthcare is where the real difference begins. Through prevention, education, and consistent care, we can transform long-term outcomes for communities.”

Sharing her perspective on women’s health, Dr. Sonali Prashant said, “Every woman deserves to feel informed and supported through every stage of her health journey. Awareness events like these help bridge that crucial gap between clinical expertise and everyday understanding.”

Representing SingHealth, Vijaya Rao International collaboration office SingHealth said, “This initiative reflects our commitment to advancing community health education and delivering patient-centred care across the full continuum from prevention to advanced treatment and research. Partnerships rooted in education and compassion can create lasting impact, and we are honoured to collaborate with Glosel in empowering families in Chennai with greater awareness.”

Radha Sanjeev, who facilitated the partnership in Chennai, reaffirmed its dedication to bridging international healthcare expertise with local access. A company representative said, “Our goal is to make world-class healthcare knowledge accessible to every individual. By working with SingHealth, we are enabling communities to make informed choices that improve quality of life.”

The “Caring for Your Health” event concluded with an open interaction between the visiting doctors and attendees, creating a dynamic platform for shared learning and dialogue. The session reinforced that awareness, collaboration, and compassion remain the cornerstones of a healthier, more informed community.
