Mumbai: Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) welcomed its second batch of the AICTE approved, two-year PGDM Online programme on July 30, 2024. The PGDM Online programme offers globally accessible, high-quality management education.

Prof. Debmallya Chatterjee, Chairperson, PGDM Online, welcomed the cohort and said, “You will experience both classroom and non-classroom sessions, along with the opportunity for social immersion. This programme maintains the highest standards in the teaching-learning process and urges the cohort to participate, learn, and give back to the society.”

Prof. Varun Nagaraj, Dean, SPJIMR, said, “The curriculum design of our PGDM Online programme takes advantage of the international reach and capability of Coursera. While completing my MBA, what had worked for me was finding time to accomplish tasks, applying learnings at work, appreciating the learning content, having fun while learning, and going with the flow while being open to learning.”

The diverse Cohort 1 includes working professionals from India, the United States, and the UAE. The batch comprises 26% female participants and 55% participants from engineering backgrounds, representing industries such as manufacturing, IT, banking, and retail.

With an average of over seven years of work experience, this dynamic group brings diverse perspectives to the programme. The curriculum, aligned with industry needs, allows for real-time application of knowledge to professional roles. SPJIMR’s partnership with Coursera ensures a top-notch Learner Management System.

Chief Guest Brett Frazier, Global Head of University Partnership, Coursera, encouraged the batch to embrace technology and think more critically on how to evaluate their opportunities and risks. He stated that it is a great time to be a student and have access to education worldwide.

The PGDM Online programme curriculum is customised to help working professionals achieve their career goals, including transitioning to a leadership position or changing domains and sectors. Courses are designed in consultation with industry experts and enable participants to develop an overview of functional areas and excel in business decision-making for cross-functional impact. The programme design also includes experiential learning with curative immersive experiences and application-oriented live projects.
