Meanwhile, senior leaders of the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are expected to meet today in New Delhi to firm up a stand and hammer out the issues on forming the government with the Shivsena.

The two sides have deputed leaders including Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel, Ajit Pawar and Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Mallikarjun Kharge, Prithviraj Chavan, Ashok Chavan, and others for the deliberation on a possible alliance.

NCP president Sharad Pawar had a meeting with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday. Pawar though remained non-committal towards Shivsena.

Amid this cautious approach by the NCP-Congress over government formation in Maharashtra, the Shivsena has called a meeting of all its MLAs and senior leaders in Mumbai on Friday.

Shivsena chief Uddhav Thackeray will likely to address the meeting which is expected to deliberate on the future course of action in the backdrop of the three main non-BJP parties making efforts to form government in Maharashtra.
