State Child Protection Day observed in Assam’s Darrang district

Mangaldai : Along with the rest of the State of Assam,  the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) of Darrang district in association with their local line departments including District Health Society, Social Welfare Department and District Legal Services Authority observed the seventh edition of State Child Protection Day here on March 4 last. In this connection, a function was organized at Sainik Bhawan by obeying the election model code of conduct in practice .

 Speaking on the occasion Rajen Chandra Das,  Chairman of the District Child Welfare Committee while highlighting the significance of celebrating the Day , spoke on five the  ‘Ps’ i.e. Prevention , Paramountcy,  Partnership,  Protection and Parental responsibility which have a major role in the all round development of a child . Earlier Dr Pallabi Sharma,  Protection Officer ( Institutional Care) ,DCPU explained the objectives of the function while Dr Nirmal Kumar Beria,  Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer, Darrang lit the ceremonial light to mark its beginning. Senior Medical Officer Dr Malabika Gogoi , an official from the District Social Welfare Department , Mouchumi Kalita and advocate Abdul Malik also spoke on different relevant child issues.

 However the the lime light of the celebration was the presentation of variety of cultural programs by inmates of different children home if the district. Later talking to this correspondent Protection Officer, Dr Pallabi Sharma said , ” We observed the day today keeping in mind the prevailing election code of conduct . We mainly  focus on giving a platform to the inmates of the child care institution to explore their hidden talents.”
