MANGALDAI:: The District Child Protection Unit ( DCPU) ,Darrang has observed the State Child Protection Day here on March 4 with enthusiasm and funfare. In this connection a public awareness public meeting was organized at the court campus with Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah as the chief guest. In his brief speech he appealed to all sections of the people in the society especially parents, guardians and teachers to always remain alert and responsible towards protecting a child from any kind of abuse and safeguarding its rights for food , shelter, good mental and physical health and quality education.
The meeting was also attended by several other senior government officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner Pallabi Kachari, Additional Superintendent of Police Rupam Phukan , Executive Officer, Mangaldai Municipal Board Rini Hazarika, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pranjal Bora, District Social Welfare Officer, Manjeet Das and District Labour Officer. The celebration also featured presentation of street drama against child marriage, awareness byke rally and mobile awareness drive . A section of Kasturi children home and Dhula Regional Physically Handicapped Development Society also presented cultural programs on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner and other guests greeted the participating inmates with gifts at the end of the celebration.
