Mangaldai : As a part of their socio-educational activities , the ‘trust’ formed in memory of renowned lawyer late Basav Chandra Baruah and his wife late Hemalata Baruah here , has offered the this year’s Assam state toppers in HS Arts and HSLC examinations from Darrang district Pubali Deka and Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita respectively each with a cash amount of Rs5000/-. Besides both the toppers were felicitated each with a citation, a traditional Japi of bell metal and a phulam gamosa. President of the trust Aroon Baruah, veteran academician Kanan Bala Bordoloi, former chairperson Assam State Child Rights Commission Dr Suchitra Baruah Kakoty, justice of Foreigners Tribunal Dharma Baruah , local young social activist Ripunjay Saikia and Secretary of the trust Epsita Baruah gave away the cheques and offered felicitations in a public function held at Sipajhar Duahati Bishnu Doul premises on Saturday. The meeting where objectives were explained by Dr Mousumi Choudhury was presided over by former President of Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha Prithuram Baruah. The meeting also witnessed handing over of a public memorandum for necessary renovation and preservation of the forty five years old Duahati Bishnu Doul addressed to Sipajhar Legislator Binanda Kumar Saikia by his representative Ripunjay Saikia.
