Swami Chinmayanand case: SIT arrested law student from her residence in Shahjahanpu

In Uttar Pradesh, a law student, who had accused BJP leader and former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand of sexually harassing her, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team – SIT today for allegedly blackmailing and trying to extort money from him.

SIT arrested her from her residence in Shahjahanpur after a brief interrogation. Later on after her medical examination, she was produced in Chief Judicial Magistrate court where from she was sent to jail for 14 days judicial custody.

Swami Chinmayanand has already been arrested by SIT  and presently he is under treatment in Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Lucknow  under police custody. The arrest of girl comes a day after a local court admitted the interim bail plea filed by the law student.

 While the court had fixed Thursday for hearing her plea, which sought protection from arrest. Police had also already arrested three persons close aide of the girl on the charge of trying to extort money from Chinmayanand.
