Tata Cancer Care Foundation Launches ‘Voice of Courage’: India’s Cancer Care Story, Told by the People Who Carry It

0 3

Mumbai : Tata Cancer Care Foundation (TCCF) has launched Voice of Courage, a ten-episode podcast series built on a simple conviction: the truest account of cancer care in India lives in the voices of those who deliver it, those who receive it, and those who shape the stories we tell about it. Developed with WondrLab India as creative and content partner, the series is the Foundation’s first owned podcast IP, and a deliberate reset of how cancer is spoken about in public.

Across weekly episodes, the series traces the full arc of care: Dr. (Prof.) Shailesh V. Shrikhande, Pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancer surgeon and Chief Executive of Tata Cancer Care Foundation , on India’s preventable cancer burden; specialists in imaging, pathology and clinical research on the science of early detection; a cancer survivor reflecting on life beyond treatment; and filmmaker Amole Gupte on the stories India believes about illness. Mr. Gupte’s episode releases on 17 June, with teasers across Tata Cancer Care Foundation’s channels from today.

The series is made possible by TCCF’s Distributed Cancer Care Model, which connects apex cancer centres in Ranchi and Tirupati with the Centre for Onychopathology in Mumbai, a network built to take high-quality, affordable cancer care closer to patients’ homes across Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The series also makes a quiet editorial choice: it steps away from the combat vocabulary (battles, warriors, victories) that has long dominated cancer communication, in favour of a register of accompaniment. Its north star: “Courage isn’t loud. It’s what we carry, together.”

Speaking on the launch, Dr. (Prof.) Shailesh V. Shrikhande, Chief Executive, Tata Cancer Care Foundation, said “Cancer care is ultimately human care, delivered by doctors, nurses, families and communities to people who often meet the word ‘cancer’ with fear. Voice of Courage is an attempt to replace that fear with clarity. Across these episodes, listeners will hear from surgeons, pathologists, a cancer warrior and a storyteller on what truly changes outcomes: prevention, early detection, timely diagnosis and care that reaches people where they live. If these conversations encourage even one family to seek a timely check-up or a second opinion, the series has served its purpose.”

Hemant Shringy, Chief Creative Officer & Managing Partner, WondrLab India added “Briefs like this are rare. Tata Cancer Care Foundation asked for no hyperbole, no fear, no war metaphors: only real voices, treated with rigour and warmth. Our job as creative and content partner was to build a format quiet enough to let those voices carry, and contemporary enough to take them well beyond hospital walls. And when cancer care has such a long way, it’s about time the conversations around it did the same”

New episodes release every Friday. Full episodes are available on YouTube and Spotify, with cutdowns across TCCF’s LinkedIn, X and Instagram channels.
