Kokrajhar: The 60th Teacher’s Day was celebrated in Kokrajhar in a befitting manner to mark the birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan at Science College auditorium in Kokrajhar..
Organised by the Education Department, BTC, total 172 retired teachers from Kokrajhar district were felicitated on the occasion with traditional aronai and a citation each.
National Teacher Award-2021 awardee Binanda Swargiary, a subject teacher of K B Deulkuchi HS School, Tamulpur of Baksa district was also facilitated on the occasion. A cheque of Rs 1 lakh, was handed over by the BTC administration. Binanda Swargiary’s wife Hiramoyee Swargiary accepted the cheques on his behalf.
Assam Speaker Biswajit Daimary, BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro attended the function as guests.
Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Director IIT Guwahati and Director (Additional Charge) CIT Kokrajhar attended the function as appointed speaker and spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion floral tributes was paid to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary, Ukil Muchahary, Reoreoa Narzihary, Arup Kumar Dey, Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary were among those present on the occasion.
