Haflong, Assam : Thadou Students Association (TSA) Dima Hasao and the Thadou Apex Body, Thadou Inpi Assam (TIA) held a joint meeting at the residence of Mr. Haosei Sitlhouon, Songpijang on Saturday.
In the joint meeting, Thadou Literature Society (TLS) Assam was reconsttuted and former Presbyterian Church of India General Assembly, Administrative Secretary; Reverend David T. Lhouvum was elected as the Chairman, while Solomon Haokip was elected as the General Secretary. Lalminsang Singson and Andrew Hangshing was also elected as a joint Secretary for the Thadou Literature Society Assam.
As the Thadou Language and literature is on the brink of extinction, TLS Assam was renewed to protect and preserve the Thadou Tribe cultures and traditions, implementation for Thadou MIL will be urged to the concerned department as the Thadou Tribe is one of the Indigenous in Assam, informed the TSA President Sehchon Singson.
Thadou Inpi Assam, Thadou Women’s Association (TWA) Thadou Students Association-Dima Hasao also extended their strong support and desire for the implementation of Thadou MIL for the interest and Protection of the Thadou Tribe.
Mentionably, the Thadous has been recognised as Scheduled Tribe in India since 1956. Vide Govt. of India Ministry of Law Notification Order No. S.R.O. 2477A, dated 29 October 1956, New Delhi, India. Moreover, Thadou Mauzadar is also in existence since 1886 long before the independence of India.
