BRAINTREE, NEW BEDFORD, MA: The Peabody Companies (www.wearepeabody.com), a group of award-winning property management and real estate firms now celebrating its 50th anniversary, recently marked the 50th anniversary of Melville Towers in New Bedford, Massachusetts, with a special event, bringing together residents, staff, and guests in observance of the community’s half-century milestone.
The well-attended celebration featured food and refreshments from On The Go Catering, and music by Wicked Weezy Entertainment, adding to a day filled with joy, fellowship, reflection, and a strong sense of community.
“The decorations, food, music, and overall atmosphere came together, making the occasion special and memorable,” said Nick Speller, property manager at Melville Towers, acknowledging Resident Service Coordinator Tanya Teixeira “whose hard work and dedication played a major role in the planning and execution of the event.”

Melville Towers is a 327-unit affordable housing community for seniors 62+ as well as persons with disabilities under the age of 62. Built in 1971 under HUD’s elderly-housing programs the 11-story complex has been managed by The Peabody Companies since 1976 and is among the many long-standing communities in Peabody’s management portfolio.
“AHSC is extremely grateful to the residents and dedicated staff at Peabody Properties who have made Melville Towers a comfortable home for seniors and persons with disabilities in the community for over 50 years,” added Michael J. Mattos, president and executive director of Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative (AHSC), which acquired ownership of the property in 2007 when it underwent a full-scale occupied renovation. AHSC has continued to work with Peabody Properties to maintain the community for all its New Bedford residents.
