The seizure of illegal weapons and ammunition made in China, at India – Bhutan Border

Guwahathi: Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has received instructions from China to hand over huge quantities of weapons to the northeastern state, according to information reached to the government. Meanwhile, Assam Police recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition in the Chirang area of Assam, according to a secret sources. Recovered weapons and ammunition include AK-47 rifles, live ammunition and automatic pistols. Police sources said, the police team has recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from two different places under the Runikhata police station in Chirang district of Assam.

It may be mentioned that the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is to be elected in the coming days. Governor’s rule is in force in the locality after the expiry of btc term. In view of the elections, the police administration has launched a campaign against illegal arms in the four districts of BTC, Kokrajhar, Udlaguri, Baxa and Chirang districts. Addressing the media, Chirang Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh said that on the basis of secret information, a police team led by Chirang Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Prakash Medhi, DSP (HQ) and Circle Inspector of Runikhas in Jambuguri and Adyguri in Ranipur under Runikhata police station on Thursday morning launched a rifle of AK series with two magazines from Jambooguri. A 0.9 mm carbine with 50 rounds of 7.62 mm alive cartridge and magazine from Amayguri, 07 factory-made pistols with magazine, two Chinese hand grenades and 25 rounds alive cartridges have been recovered.

No one has been arrested in this regard. The police is investigating the case. However, it is not known which militant group the weapon belongs to. There may be a militant group who surrenders. A large number of weapons have been recovered from the four districts of BTC during the last four months. The police official said that the work of sending ISI weapons on China’s directions, as per the information reached to the government, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has received instructions from China to bring a large quantity of weapons to the north-eastern state. Sources said, it is also confirmed by the recovered caches recovered by security forces in recent days. Most of the weapons found in these caches were Chinese marking. After the intelligence report surfaced, security forces have further strengthened their anti-infiltration line on the north-eastern state.
