Three ONGC officials kidnapped by terrorists, search underway

UWAHATI : Three employees of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) have been abducted from Sivasagar district of Assam. They have been kidnapped by armed militants. These include two junior engineers and a junior technician. The incident was reportedly carried out by armed miscreants. Senior officials of the state police have reached the spot after receiving information about the case. The employees have been abducted from ongc’s site in Sivasagar district. The militants are said to have kidnapped the employees at 3 am on Wednesday. ONGC has said that three of their employees were abducted by armed militants in the early hours of April 21.

 According to reports, the names of the abducted employees are Mohini Mohan, Ritul Saikia and Alkesh Saikia. ONGC said the militants kidnapped the employees from the site from an operational vehicle of the company itself. The vehicle was later released into the Nimonagarh forests near the Assam-Nagaland border. A complaint has been lodged by ONGC with the local police station in the case. The company said senior police officials are on the site. The local administration has also been informed about the same. The company is in constant touch with the authorities.  However, it is yet to be ascertained which militant outfit has kidnapped the employees.  And what are their demands? Police are currently on the lookout for the personnel.
