Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking withdrawal of the Dam Safety Bill.
In a letter, he said, the Bill has been introduced in the Lok Sabha last Wednesday, without addressing the concerns of the state.
Mr Palaniswamy pointed out that four dams including Mullai Periyar are owned, operated and maintained by the Government of Tamil Nadu by virtue of Inter-State Agreements, but are located in Kerala.
He has said, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court has upheld the rights of Tamil Nadu on Mullai Periyar Dam.
