Mangaldai: Rich public tribute has been paid to former CM Tarun Gogoi here on Sunday evening under the aegis of the Mangaldai town block Congress committee. Besides offering floral tribute and lightening earthen lamp at the portrait late Gogoi , the town block committee members along with its sister organizations like NSUI, Seva Dal and Young Brigade prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul by illumination of the entire stretch of MG road from the ‘bank of the Borpukuri’ to ‘Ram Mandir’ with the help of earthen lamps.
Taking part in the tribute offering ceremony Dr. Nagendra Nath Sarma, veteran scholar ,writer and the President of All Assam Ex MLA Association said, ” Tarun Gogoi was a great politician who will remain on our heart for his contribution for the development of Assamese Community. Though he belonged to a national party, he always raised his voice for Assam and the Assamese.” former Mangaldai parliamentarian Madhab Rajbongshi, former minister and MLA of Mangaldai Basanta Das, prominent member from royal Koch dynasty Dr. Amarendra Narayan Dev among others also recalled the contributions of Late Gogoi towards Assam and the greater Assamese society.
