Two terrorists gunned down in Kulgam

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Arrah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district this afternoon.

SSP Kulgam Gurvinder Pal Singh said that a joint team of Kulgam Police,  Army’s 34 RR and CRPF laid a cordon-and-search-operation in Arrah village based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them.

The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter and resulted in the killing of two terrorists.

The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained. Three soldiers also sustained minor injuries who have been shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh in Srinagar. Search operation was on when the reports last came in. Further details are awaited.
