Uncommon Blood Cancer Patient Successfully Treated at Onco cancer Center

Hyderabad: When 35 years old Ayesha* visited Onco Cancer Centre at Olive Hospital in Mehdipatnam she had already been to several cancer hospitals but there was no improvement in her health condition. Suffering from an uncommon form of blood cancer, Ayesha lost hope from other hospitalswhen she was told there was only a 25% chance of survival for her, even after treatment. Dejected and desperate, Ayesha’s family were looking for a ray of hope when they visited Onco Cancer Centre at Olive Hospital, Mehdipatnam and met consultant medical and hemato oncologist Dr. Shikhar Kumar.

After studying her case in detail, the doctors counselled & explained Ayesha that she is suffering from Ph+ Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It’s a form of blood cancer that affects white blood cells. Her family was informed that her chances of survival could be high if planned with a right approach & timely manner. Further he also explained that the duration of the treatment would be longer, but after six months of chemotherapy, she could switch from IV chemotherapy to oral pills at home. This was the first time that someone gave them hope.

With this renewed hope, Ayesha and her family began her treatment atOnco Cancer Centre, Olive Hospital Mehdipatnam. Now It’s been six months, and Ayesha has completed all her cycles of chemotherapy.  Her latest reports show that she has achieved MRD negativity which is a marker for good long-term control of her cancer.

Ayesha is now back to regular life and will be continuing her oral maintenance therapy from home for the next two years. She will be under regular monitoring and Onco’s cancer counselors are assisting her throughout the entire cancer journey.
