Unprecedented progress has been in health services: Governor Shri Patel

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that the country has made unprecedented progress in maternal and child health services. Today, childless couples for 10 to 20 years are also getting the joy of becoming parents. He praised the state government for setting up a hospital with all facilities for maternal and child health. Governor Shri Patel said this at Dr. Kailash Nath Katju Government Hospital, Bhopal.        

Governor Shri Patel was discussing with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan at the hospital. Earlier, he dedicated the third ultrasound machine installed in the hospital and VIA machine to check cervical cancer. He inspected the canteen, post operative ward etc. of the hospital. He also interacted with the doctors and patients.      

Governor Shri Patel said that we are fortunate to have a sensitive Prime Minister like Shri Narendra Modi, who has worked for the welfare of the bottommost deprived person of the society.  He has introduced several schemes for them. He has created new history of women’s empowerment and self-reliance through the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Beti Badhao campaigns in the country. He said that the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matrutva Abhiyan has done the work of saving the lives of a large number of mothers and children. Under the campaign, modern medical facilities have been made available for high-risk pregnant women. He said that there is a belief that a woman is reborn after giving birth to a child. While congratulating all the doctors and staff of the hospital, he said that he prays to God that whoever comes to the hospital, leaves with a smile. Mentioning the folk belief of Gujarat, he said that the prayer of a pregnant woman for the one who takes care of her during her pregnancy, enriches his/her life.

Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matrutva Abhiyan Smt. Ruchi Chaturvedi, Leela Rawat, Pooja Rathore, Shazia, Angoori Ramkunj, Pinky Chingatia, Shakun Bai informed Governor Shri Patel about the reasons for their high risk pregnancy. They told him that both they and their newborns are healthy due to the free medical facilities provided under the campaign. Everyone expressed gratitude towards the doctors and ASHA workers.

Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri Mohammad Suleman said that the Governor’s concern for the Health Department is a great strength. He told that Katju Hospital was earlier a 30-bed hospital, which has been developed by the government as a 300-bed fully equipped maternal and child health medical center. To make the operational arrangements effective, an ex-serviceman has been appointed as administrator. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sushri Priyanka Das, Managing Director, National Health Mission.
