Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has allowed shops of fertilizers and seeds to remain open during the restriction period of 55 hours which started last night and will continue till Monday morning. This has been done in the wake of the sowing season and the growing need of fertilizers and seeds for farmers.
UP Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has assured all the farmers that there is no dearth of fertilizers in the state and government is taking all measures to ensure the availability of fertilizers and seeds. He said that strict action is being taken against those who are stocking and doing black marketing of fertilizers. In the last 2 days an intensive campaign was launched against such persons in 18 zones of state and raids were conducted on 3119 fertilizer shops. Action is being taken against defaulters which includes filing of FIR Suspension and termination of licence and closing of shops. He said that there is enough stock of urea, fertilizers and other pesticides and farmers should purchase only the necessary quantity and do not stock such items at their end.
Meanwhile additional chief secretary agriculture Devesh Chaturvedi has ordered that all shops of fertilizers, urea, pesticides and other agriculture related equipment will remain open during the restrictions period which is in effect on today and tomorrow in the state
