US President Trump warns US-Iran ceasefire on life support as energy markets reel from West Asia crisis

Oil markets were shaken and diplomatic tensions deepened after US President Donald Trump said the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was on “massive life support”, raising fresh doubts over the chances of a lasting truce.

Iran had earlier sent its response to American peace proposals, calling for an end to hostilities across all fronts, the lifting of US sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, an end to the US naval blockade, and recognition of Iran’s management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposal outlined a phased roadmap beginning with a memorandum of understanding, followed by thirty days of negotiations.

President Trump rejected Tehran’s conditions as “totally unacceptable”, sending Brent crude prices up more than four percent to above 105 dollars a barrel before easing slightly later.

Saudi Aramco officials warned that the conflict has triggered what they called the largest energy shock in recorded history. They said that even if the Strait of Hormuz blockade ended immediately, global oil markets may not fully stabilise until 2027.

Akashvani correspondent reports Iran’s demands, focused heavily on wartime and economic conditions rather than immediate nuclear concessions, a framing that Washington appears unwilling to accept at this stage.

The gap between the two sides’ positions remains wide, with mediators struggling to find common ground as battlefield pressures and economic stress continue to mount across West Asia.

Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, the government has moved to formalise its response to attacks on national infrastructure.

Authorities have established a national committee tasked with documenting damage from more than two thousand eight hundred drones and missiles that have struck Emirati territory.

The UAE is now pursuing international legal accountability and seeking reparations for strikes on its landmarks and energy facilities
