The West Bengal Government has decided to start ferry service between Kolkata and Ganga Sagar in Sagar Island soon.
According to State Transport Department sources, the decision will help to pilgrims for reaching Ganga Sagar in a hassle-free way through water transport in Makar Sankranti to be held in the month of January next year.
The services will be launched in form of a joint venture with a private company. This will also cater to the needs of tourists intending to visit the Sundarbans.
