The West Bengal government has lifted all restrictions on the interstate movement of potatoes, onions, fruits, vegetables, oil seeds, food grains, and other essential products. The restrictions had been imposed by the erstwhile TMC government. Farmers, especially potato growers, had incurred huge losses due to these restrictions. Prior to the assembly elections, the BJP had promised the farmers to lift these restrictions.

On the other hand, in a significant development, the government of West Bengal decided to hand over the cases related to the teachers’ recruitment, municipal recruitment and cooperative services recruitment scams to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari alleged the former TMC government had not taken any step in these cases to safeguard the corrupt officers. He said his government will follow the policy of zero tolerance towards institutional corruption.

The West Bengal government has also terminated the services of all persons who were re-employed by the TMC government after their superannuation. Several official orders have been issued by the government of West Bengal in this regard.
