India’s construction industry continues to expand rapidly, supported by government-led infrastructure schemes, FDI-friendly reforms, and a strong push for sustainability. Since the allowance of 100% FDI in 2005, the sector has attracted significant investments, while the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), with an outlay of INR 111 lakh crore (USD 1.5 trillion) by 2025, is driving large-scale projects across roads, railways, airports, ports, water systems, and energy. Complementing this, the government is preparing a ₹5,000 crore national mission to incentivize sustainable steel production, offering support measures such as concessional loans and risk guarantees to decarbonize the sector. Together, these measures are set to boost demand, foster innovation, and accelerate the transition toward a more resilient and sustainable construction ecosystem in India.
Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said “Hyderabad, with its rapidly growing infrastructure and vibrant construction ecosystem, provides an ideal backdrop for this roundtable. The event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and experts to discuss market trends, explore sustainable solutions like geopolymer concrete—which can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 80% and reduce costs by 20% and highlight the role of digital tools in streamlining construction operations. With the Indian cement industry projected to grow at a CAGR of approx 7% from 2025 to 2030, driven by expansion across residential, infrastructure, commercial, and industrial sectors, World of Concrete India aims to strengthen collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation, ultimately driving efficiency, sustainability, and long-term growth across India’s concrete and construction ecosystem.”

The southern region of India, particularly Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, is witnessing a rapid surge in construction activity, driven by thriving IT hubs, robust startup ecosystems, and expanding urban infrastructure. Hyderabad, a key economic and technological center, now boasts over 200 high-rise buildings, with another 250 towers exceeding 100 meters under construction, reflecting the city’s growing demand for commercial and residential spaces. Telangana’s construction sector recorded an impressive 11.97% growth in 2024–25, contributing over ₹80,000 crore to the state economy and accounting for nearly 25% of the services sector’s gross value. The state government’s ambitious initiatives, such as the construction of 5 lakh Indiramma houses within three and a half years, are transforming urban living. Alongside rapid development, the adoption of eco-friendly construction practices is gaining traction, offering sustainable solutions to challenges like climate change, urbanisation, pollution, and rising carbon emissions, and positioning South India as a leader in modern, resilient infrastructure.
