Hyderabad, April 2023; Mr. Norman Deery, Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness for Wolters Kluwer across Asia Pacific, addressed the media during his visit to India, highlighting the organization’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare in the country.

Wolters Kluwer, a well-established organization with a history spanning nearly 185 years, has continually reinvented and developed as the landscape and environments have changed. Originally a publishing print organization in schools in Holland, Wolters Kluwer has expanded its portfolio to provide the latest knowledge and information to professionals across various industries, including finance, legal, and health, in around 40 countries worldwide, with customers in 190 countries globally.

During his address, Mr. Deery emphasized Wolters Kluwer’s focus on the health industry, particularly in India. He highlighted the 30-year anniversary of UpToDate, one of Wolters Kluwer’s key solutions for the health industry, and how it has been providing clinical decision support to healthcare professionals across the spectrum for many years. Mr. Deery mentioned that UpToDate has become one of their core products, and statistics on its usage are often discussed, as it is a widely recognized clinical decision support system.

Mr. Deery also shared that India is one of his primary focuses for growth in the Asia Pacific region. Wolters Kluwer has already established markets in other Asian countries, such as Australia and Taiwan, with a high market penetration of around 93-95%. Japan, in particular, has the largest store of UpToDate content outside of North America. However, Mr. Deery emphasized that the organization is now focusing on India due to the developments in the Indian healthcare market and the investments made in the health system. The ultimate vision of Wolters Kluwer is to improve healthcare and standardize healthcare practices globally with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

Acknowledging the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare systems worldwide, hehighlighted that the pandemic has accelerated digital transformation, telehealth, and technology adoption in the healthcare industry. “During the pandemic, many institutions were not prepared to service customers remotely, and Wolters Kluwer’s solutions were able to provide valuable content and evidence-based materials to clinicians on the frontline. The organization was able to rapidly develop and create content related to COVID-19, providing daily updates to frontline healthcare professionals, which would have taken weeks, months, or even years if done through traditional publishing methods”, added Mr. Deery.

The organization is focused on leveraging technology and innovation to support healthcare professionals and standardize healthcare practices for better patient outcomes. With Wolters Kluwer’s commitment to improving healthcare in India and beyond and their cutting-edge advancements in technology, the stage is set for a new era of innovation in the healthcare industry.
