India’s rise to 38th in the Global Innovation Index and its recognition as an innovation overperformer for 15 consecutive years reflect strong progress. At the same time, the index highlights that innovation is not only about inputs such as talent, infrastructure, and capital, but about how effectively these are converted into tangible outputs.
Yet, a critical gap remains in this conversion. Many promising ideas struggle to move beyond early stages due to challenges in validation, market access, and operating in real-world conditions. Strengthening the systems that enable this transition—from idea to implementation to scale—will be key to sustaining momentum in the next phase of growth.
Our work at Marico Innovation Foundation has focused on supporting innovations through this journey, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, clean technology, and waste management, where the need for scalable solutions is both urgent and complex.
