World Oral Health Day Observed at Regional Dental College

GUWAHATI : On the occasion of World Oral Health Day, the State Oral Health unit, National Health Mission, Assam celebrated the occasion at Regional Dental College, Guwahati, Assam. The theme of this year is “Be Proud of Your Mouth”. The Program started with an address by Dr Rubi Kataki, Professor, Regional Dental College cum Additional State Nodal Officer, National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Assam followed by the keynote address by Chief Guest, Dr. B. R. Bhuyan, Founder cum Ex Principal of Regional Dental College (RDC), Guwahati. Dr. Bhuyan highlighted the importance of oral health as many diseases are linked to oral diseases. He also said that people should be aware about oral hygiene and items like tobacco, beetle nut etc. which are harmful for oral health are to be avoided.

To mark the occasion, several competitions such as essay writing on oral health, caption writing, poster making, model fabrication, best smile and best oral hygiene were conducted among school students from different schools of Guwahati and students from Regional Dental College, Guwahati. Prizes were also distributed to the winners. The other members present in the occasion were Dr. N. Lalsim, Additional Director (H) cum State Nodal Officer, NOHP, Assam, Dr. Atul Chandra Bhuyan, Principal, Regional Dental College, Guwahati, Assam, Dr. Rubi Kataki, Professor, RDC, Guwahati cum Additional State Nodal Officer, NOHP, Assam, Dr. Jogeswar Barman, Professor, RDC, Guwahati cum President Elect- Indian Dental Association, Assam State Branch and State NOHP Team members, NHM, Assam.
