Bengalur: 1.25 crore families in India does not have access to healthy utensils. Bangalore has over two lakhs families who cannot afford basic utensils. We believe that every meal deserves to be eaten with a healthy eating habit. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford this necessity. The Paatra Foundation believes that it is the responsibility of all communities to participate in facilitating basic kitchen utensils for all.

In 2006, Paatra Bhandar (the founding company of The Paatra Foundation) started its charitable exchange programs to donate essential utensils to thousands of families. Since then, the organization has donated utensils kits to over 30,000 needy families in Bengaluru.

To fulfill this mission of reaching more numbers, the organization has introduced a utensils collection drive. Through this initiative, people shall either sponsor the number of kits or donate their old utensils to the charity. The organization shall ensure that all collected utensils are recycled and usable before donating them to the needy. Each kit shall consist of 25 pieces of food-grade, essential stainless-steel utensils. The Paatra Foundation shall work in close collaboration with the community to provide kitchen utensils such as plates, cups, and cutlery to the underprivileged. We believe that improving access to basic needs like these can help transform communities and empower the underprivileged to lead healthy lives.

About World Patra Divas:  The Paatra Foundation declared April 10 as World Paatra Divas to celebrate the importance of kitchen essentials, and a call to action for the entire world to take part in the initiative. The theme for 2022 is the joy of giving. Being the first of its kind in the history of the world, The Paatra Foundation seeks to engage everyone and anyone, from all walks of life, to be part of the movement. We have set ourselves a goal: To provide two million pieces of kitchen essentials in Bengaluru by 2025. This campaign also aims to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest donation of utensils in the world.

The event was inaugurated by the Member of Parliament of South Bangalore Shri. Tejaswi Surya. The event was graced by distinguished guests the likes of Shri. L.A Ravi Subramanya (MLA ) and Ex. Mayor of Bangalore Gangambika Mallikarjuna. The Paatra Foundation marked the day by donating essential utensils kits to underprivileged families.
