Hyderabad: World Wide Technology, a global tech solution provider, today conducted its first-ever Career Discovery Day in India at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The initiative was aimed at allowing the high school students to explore various career options, gain insights from professionals in different fields, and make informed decisions about their future amidst the plethora of choices available today.

Access to education has been a core tenet for WWT’s community initiatives in India. An event like Career Discovery Day enables students to make informed decisions about future career paths based on a deeper understanding of their interests and strengths. Through the day, students were provided with opportunities to gain first-hand practical experience, challenge preconceived notions and have meaningful interactions with professionals from diverse industries, allowing them to gain insights into different careers and work environments.

Commenting on the occasion, Ann Marr, Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources, World Wide Technology, said, “World Wide Technology has always treated people as a crucial asset, and our philosophy extends to our local communities beyond the organization as well. We are very proud of our community-impact programs in Hyderabad and other parts of the country, which are expected to benefit over 3,000 students and equip them with the tools they need to succeed. Education is a powerful force for equity and providing these resources to students allows them to create the future they want.”

Apart from this, the company has collaborated with Kalisu Foundation, an education-focused social impact organisation, since 2021 to construct 10 fully equipped libraries in government schools across Karnataka and Telangana at an investment exceeding INR 22 lakhs. These libraries have been envisioned as sustainable educational ecosystems that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and promote a strong sense of community. Four of these libraries have been established in Hyderabad this year and are expected to benefit over 1,000 students in the city.

World Wide Technology has built a significant presence in the Indian subcontinent, with corporate offices in Mumbai, Gurugram, and Hyderabad and one of two global integration centers in Asia that provides application development and testing services to companies and supports WWT’s global customers. This week, Great Place To Work® India, the global certification authority on workplace culture, ranked WWT as 11 out of 100 on their list of “India’s Great Mid-Size Workplaces 2023.” Earlier this year, the same organization also recognized WWT as one of “India’s Best Workplaces Building a Culture of Innovation by All 2023.” WWT has steadily increased its number of employees in India from 20 in 2018 to nearly 250 today.
