Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today sacked estranged BJP ally OP Rajbhar from the cabinet today.
The development comes after Mr Rajbhar’s prolonged defiance from BJP led NDA and acting against alliance lines.
Mr Rajbhar fought current Lok Sabha election on several seats separately on his party symbol.
According to a Press release from Raj Bhawan, Governor Ram Naik has given his consent to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recommendation to remove Mr Rajbhar.
He was the minister for Backward class welfare and ‘Divyangjan’ empowerment.
The decision was taken after the seventh phase of polls ended on yesterday.
However, Mr Rajbhar claimed that he had resigned from the ministry on April 13 but his resignation was not accepted by the Chief Minister.
Reportedly, six SBSP leaders from public sector units have also been removed.
Welcoming the Chief Minister’s decision, Mr Rajbhar hit back at the BJP government for declining the rights of the backwards in the state. He alleged that he has been punished for fighting for the rights of the backwards
