Kolkata: The Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park inaugurated its 57th Durga Puja celebration today, featuring a theme “Shakti Sagar – A Tribute to the Divine Feminine and the Eternal Protector”. The inauguration was done by Sri. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Member of Parliament & was attended by: Smt. Rehana Khatun, Councillor & Borough Co-ordinator; Smt. Priyal Chaudhuri, Councillor; Sri. Rajesh Sinha, Councillor; Smt. Smita Bakshi, Ex MLA; Sri. Sanjay Bakshi, Ex MLA; Irfan Ali Taj, Social Activist; Sri. Mahendra Agarwal, Chairman of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja & many other eminent personalities.

This year’s pandal stands as a breathtaking confluence of art, spirituality, and environmental consciousness, celebrating the Goddess as the eternal protector, nurturer, and embodiment of feminine power. A radiant idol of Lord Krishna holding the eternal wheel of time greets visitors, symbolising the balance of justice, compassion, and cosmic harmony.

Inside, the pandal transforms into a stunning underwater world, where coral palaces, floating fish, and playful dolphins recreate the mystique of ancient submerged temples. A delicate boat silently sails across the “ocean,” collecting plastic and waste – delivering a subtle yet powerful message: true devotion must include care for Mother Earth.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Surendra Kr. Sharma, General Secretary of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja, said, “This year’s theme, Shakti Sagar, is not just an artistic creation; it is our collective prayer for strength, harmony, and environmental responsibility. We dedicate this celebration to the divine feminine and to the preservation of our planet – reminding everyone that worship is incomplete without protecting nature.”
