Kokrajhar: The newly constructed building of the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office was inaugurated today at Thulungapuri, Khargaon near New flyover in Kokrajhar.
Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) executive member Wilson Hasda, Director of Sainik Welfare of Assam Brigadier Joshi Narain Dutt, in the presence of ex-servicemen and widows attended programme and inaugurated the office building of Zilla Sainik Welfare office.
A plantation programme was also carried out as part of Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation programme at the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office premises.
Director of Sainik Welfare of Assam Brigadier Joshi Narain Dutt said that the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office will cater necessary assistance and resolve the basic problems of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents pertaining to pension and administrative work. He also said the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office will carry out awareness and counselling to the students and youths interested in a career in armed forces. He also said the office will explore avenues for providing different types of educational and vocational opportunities to the ex-servicemen and their dependents.
Inaugurating the office, BTR executive member Wilson Hasda extended his congratulations to ex-servicemen and said that the inauguration of office building of Zilla Sainik Welfare Office is a significant move to ensure the welfare of ex-servicemen and to honour their services rendered towards the nation.
The programme was also attended by ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents.
