11% Surge in Searches for Bakery and Homemade Dessert Services Reflects India’s Growing Appetite for Artisanal Desserts: Justdial

Justdial Limited, India’s No. 1 local search engine, has reported a steady rise in consumer searches related to bakeries, homemade desserts, celebration cakes and cake delivery services across India. The analysis compares search volumes between June 2025–May 2026 and June 2024–May 2025, reflecting the growing role of desserts in everyday indulgence, gifting, celebrations and personalised occasions.

At a national level, Bakery and Homemade Dessert Services searches increased by 11%, indicating a growing consumer preference for artisanal, small-batch and customised dessert options. Pune emerged as the strongest growth market with a 24% increase, followed by Mumbai at 19% and Delhi at 18%. Bangalore recorded a 12% rise, while Hyderabad and Kolkata witnessed a 9% and 7% increase respectively, highlighting consistent demand across key urban centres.

Parallelly, searches for Celebration Cakes and Delivery Services grew by 6% pan-India, underscoring the increasing importance of cakes as a central part of birthdays, anniversaries, corporate milestones, intimate gatherings and festive celebrations. Chandigarh led the category with a sharp 41% rise in searches, followed by Malappuram at 31%. Thiruvananthapuram recorded a 14% increase, while Delhi, Surat and Hyderabad saw growth of 13%, 10% and 7% respectively.

This data from Justdial points to a clear shift in how Indian consumers are engaging with desserts and bakery services.. From home bakers and neighbourhood patisseries to customised cakes and doorstep delivery, consumers are increasingly seeking convenience, variety and personalisation. The rise in searches also reflects the growing popularity of intimate celebrations, gifting-led purchases and premium dessert experiences across both metro and emerging markets.
