28% Surge in Searches for Organic & Health Food Stores Reflects Growing Consumer Focus on Food Quality: Justdial
Justdial Limited, India’s No. 1 local search engine, has reported a notable increase in searches related to organic and health food stores, speciality food products, grocery retail, food testing and nutrition services across India. The analysis compares search volumes between July 2025–June 2026 and July 2024–June 2025, reflecting growing consumer interest in food quality, authenticity and informed dietary choices.
The trend comes amid increased regulatory focus on food labelling and product claims, encouraging consumers to look beyond broad marketing assertions and seek trusted retailers, specialised products, professional nutrition guidance and food quality certification services.
At a national level, searches for Organic & Health Food Stores increased by 28%. Delhi emerged as the strongest growth market with a sharp 74% rise, followed by Ahmedabad at 44%. Chennai and Jaipur recorded a 30% increase each, while Pune and Hyderabad witnessed growth of 29% and 28% respectively. Bangalore and Chandigarh registered a 20% increase each.
Justdial’s data shows that searches for Health & Specialty Food grew by 9% pan-India, indicating rising demand for products aligned with specific dietary, nutritional and lifestyle requirements. Hyderabad led the category with a 25% increase, followed by Chennai at 24% and Ahmedabad at 21%. Bangalore and Pune recorded growth of 19% and 16% respectively.
Grocery & Food Retail searches increased by 10% nationally, highlighting the continued importance of trusted sources for everyday food purchases. Rajasthan and Gwalior recorded the highest growth at 25% each, followed by Solapur and Patiala at 18% each. Patna and Indore witnessed a 15% rise in searches.
The growing emphasis on verification was also visible in searches for Food Testing & Quality Certification services. Patna led the category with a 29% increase, followed by Lucknow at 23%, Kanpur at 18% and Vadodara at 12%. This indicates increasing interest among consumers and businesses in food safety, quality assessment and compliance.
Searches for Nutrition & Diet Consultants also witnessed strong growth across major cities. Delhi led with a 31% increase, followed by Bangalore at 28% and Pune at 25%. Mumbai recorded a 20% rise, while Chennai witnessed an increase of 16%.
The data points to a broader shift in how Indian consumers approach food purchases and dietary decisions. From organic and speciality food retailers to nutrition professionals and quality certification providers, consumers appear to be placing greater emphasis on transparency, expert guidance and credible sources. As awareness around ingredients, product claims and food standards continues to grow, trust and verifiable quality are increasingly influencing everyday food choices.
