Five persons including three women died and three others are missing after a boat capsized in Yamuna river near Sangam, Prayagraj last evening. According to police five bodies have been recovered and six people rescued. Fourteen persons were in the ill-fated boat.
The police said these victims from Maharashtra had come to immerse the ashes of their relative at Sangam. According to rescued persons, the boat had developed a leak and water had seeped into it which led to boat capsize. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolence over the incident and directed officials to intensify search and rescue operation.
