Guwahathi: A 55-member Gorkha Cell of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee was formed on Monday with the approval of APCC president, Ripun Bora. Karna Bahadur Chhetri was appointed as the new chairperson of the committee while Ram Prasad Sharma, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Sanjoy Raj Subba, Bhaskar Dahal and Roshan Raj Chhetri were appointed as the advisor of the cell. After being appointed as the chairperson, Karna Bahadur Chhetri said that in 2021 the newly formed cell will put all efforts to make the Congress gain power in Assam. He further added that the members of the new cell are proud of the fact that in the year 1921 the first APCC president was from the Gorkha community, Chabilal Upadhyay.
