Meerut : Concerned over the slow pace of construction at the upcoming 150-bed ESIC Hospital project in Meerut, Chief Engineer of CPWD, Rajiv Kumar, conducted a detailed site inspection on Monday and directed officials to speed up work before the onset of monsoon.
During the inspection, the Chief Engineer reviewed the quality standards and overall progress of the project with the local CPWD team. Expressing dissatisfaction, he noted that the construction work is still limited to the basement excavation stage despite looming weather challenges.
Highlighting the urgency, Kumar warned that with the monsoon expected within the next one-and-a-half months, any delay in bringing the structure above basement level could result in severe waterlogging at the site, turning the entire campus into a “pond” and hampering construction activities further.
Taking a serious view of the delay, the Chief Engineer instructed the project officials to accelerate work on a war footing and ensure visible progress in the coming weeks. Officials present during the visit assured that construction activities would be intensified immediately.
The 150-bed ESIC Hospital is a significant healthcare infrastructure project being developed by CPWD in Meerut to strengthen medical facilities for ESIC beneficiaries and the region.
