Technology, Automation, and Sustainability Trends

The tools and equipment industry is shifting towards higher productivity, uptime and specialised solutions, driven by the adoption of AI, AR/VR, connected technologies and automation to address workforce and efficiency challenges. Cordless and battery-powered tools are increasingly gaining traction, alongside smart tools, IoT-enabled monitoring, predictive maintenance and specialised access equipment.

Sustainability will be another important focus at Tools & Equipment Expo 2026, with exhibitors showcasing eco-friendly technologies, energy-efficient equipment, resource-efficient solutions and circular economy practices.

Economic Dynamics and Sector Outlook

India’s tool and equipment market is experiencing an infrastructure-led expansion, catalysed by targeted government initiatives such as Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes. Growth is being propelled by a structural shift from traditional manual tools toward advanced, cordless lithium-ion platforms, AI-integrated systems, and precision Cutting & Welding Technologies linked to multi-axis CNC machinery for aerospace and automotive manufacturing.

However, as the sector targets an ambitious $25 billion export milestone by 2035, it must navigate key operational hurdles. These include a 33% import reliance on China for electronic control units, steep capital expenditure requirements for MSMEs, and digital-twin talent shortages. Despite these challenges, long-term industry expansion remains firmly tied to Sustainable Equipment, with manufacturers prioritizing low-carbon machinery and energy-efficient practices to meet strict global environmental standards.
